Deflection

When Mr. Bingley and  Caroline show up at Pemberly, Elizabeth was so flustered.  With Caroline's high class, it is hard for her to understand what it really means to Elizabeth that Mr. Bingley left her very dear sister, Jane.  Because of the social class difference, it is difficult for each person to understand each others problems.  Additionally, when Caroline started to give Lizzy some grief about the militia leaving, Lizzy does not know how to respond.  However, because she was able to deflect the problem of Wickham, she was able to befriend Georgina even more, for she was going to get married to him.

I understand Elizabeth's uncomfortable position. It troubles me to bring such pain to the Bennet family. In truth, I have felt just as much pain as them, if not more for leaving such a perfect, beautiful woman - Jane. Surely they have learned to ignore my dear sister, as she continues to roll around like a playful puppy in the grass that is this situation.
